The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive insect that has killed more than 100 million Ash trees in the U.S. since it was first discovered in 2002. The small green beetle has finally made its way to Oregon. Once infested, most Ash trees will die within 2-4 years. Treatment is the only solution. Through proactive pesticide applications every two years, Portland’s Ash canopy can be preserved, but it’s important to act now and start treatments as soon as possible before an infestation takes hold.
